Privacy policy

Last updated 28 September 2026

Mentor is a mentor that knows your money, your schedule and your goals, so it handles personal information by design. This policy says exactly what the app collects, what it's used for and who else sees it. The short version: we use your data to run Mentor for you. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, and there are no analytics or tracking tools in the app.

Who we are

Mentor is published by 12719967 Canada Inc. ("we", "us"), 6-1500 Upper Middle Road West, Oakville, Ontario L6M 0C2, and built and run for us by Aurelis. We are responsible for your personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec residents, Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

This policy covers the Mentor app. Our website's waitlist has its own privacy notice.

Person in charge of personal information

Vincenzo Taddeo, Director, is responsible for protecting personal information at 12719967 Canada Inc.. Contact them at privacy@mentoraiapp.com with any question or request about your data.

What we collect and why

Everything below is linked to your account. None of it is used to track you across other apps or websites.

Account

Your email address and sign-in method (email and password, Sign in with Apple or Google), held by our sign-in provider, Clerk. The first name you give during onboarding, which the mentor uses to address you. We use these to create your account and keep it secure.

Your conversations and goals

Your chat messages and the mentor's replies, your goals, your onboarding answers (tone, check-in times, interests, news topics and sports teams), your routines and reminders, your daily poll answers, and the daily briefs we write for you. The mentor needs these to reply in context and to follow up on what you said you'd do. Your goals, name, tone, interests and check-in times are also kept as a searchable memory the mentor can look things up in.

Financial information

If you connect a bank, Plaid sends us the accounts you choose to share (name, type and the last few digits of the number), their balances and credit limits, up to 12 months of transactions (amount, date, merchant, category) and the recurring bills and income Plaid detects. We also store the access token Plaid issues for the connection. We use this to show your money in the app, to remind you about upcoming bills, and to let the mentor talk about your spending.Mentor can read this data only. It cannot move money or make payments.

Plaid collects your bank sign-in and account data directly from you under its own end user privacy policy. We never see your bank password.

Calendar

If you turn on calendar access, the app reads the calendars already on your phone (Apple, Google or Outlook, whichever are synced to it). When you open the app, and about once an hour in the background, it sends us the next 14 days of events from the calendars you select. For each event we keep the title, start and end time, whether it's all-day, and whether it marks you busy. We never collect event locations, notes, attendees or links. We also store each calendar's name and the account label your phone shows for it, which is often an email address. We use this to plan reminders around your day and so the mentor knows what's coming up.

Location

Only if you set a wake-up time and allow location. The app asks once, reads your device's location (latitude and longitude) and stores it with your wake-up settings. Each morning our server uses it to fetch the local weather for your brief. We don't track your location over time, and we don't use it for anything else.

Voice

When you talk to Mentor, your phone's own speech recognition turns your voice into text. It runs on the device when your phone supports that; otherwise Apple or Google processes the audio on their servers under their own privacy terms. Mentor never uploads or stores your audio. Only the resulting text is sent to us, as a chat message.

When the mentor speaks, the text of its reply is sent to ElevenLabs, which returns the audio.

Notifications and settings

Your device's push token, so we can send reminders and briefs. Your time zone, so they arrive at the right local time. Your wake-up time and any music link you add to it. Your country, taken from your phone's region setting and editable in the app, which places your MENTOR Score in a national ranking.

Points, Score and subscription

Your Mentra points history and redemptions, your streaks, your MENTOR Score and rank, your referral code and the referrals it produced, and your Mentor Pro status (plan, renewal date, which store you bought through). Apple or Google processes the payment. We never see your card details.

Usage counts

How many messages you send and how much AI and voice processing your account uses. We use these counts to apply fair-use limits and to keep costs under control, not to profile you.

What we don't do

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers below, only what each one needs to do its job for us. They process it on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

News articles you open in the app load from the publisher's website, which may apply its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to a buyer if the business is sold, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.

Where your data is processed

We are in Canada, but most of our service providers, including our database, are in the United States, and some may process data in other countries. Your information may therefore be stored and processed outside Canada and outside Quebec, where it can be accessed by courts and authorities under local law.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When you disconnect a bank, we delete the accounts, balances and transactions we stored from it and tell Plaid to end the connection. When you disconnect your calendars in the app, we delete the events we stored. When you delete your account, we delete everything tied to it, as described on that page.

How we protect it

Data travels encrypted between the app, our servers and our providers, and our database encrypts it at rest. Access is limited to the people who run Mentor and only when they need it to operate or support the app. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach creates a risk of serious harm to you, we will notify you and the regulators as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

Calendar, location, microphone and notifications are all optional. You can turn any of them off in your phone's settings, and you can disconnect a bank or your calendars in the app at any time. The rest of Mentor keeps working without them.

You can also ask us to:

Email privacy@mentoraiapp.com from the address on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we'll answer within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.

Age

Mentor is for people 13 and older. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use it. In Quebec, we need a parent's or guardian's consent to collect information from anyone under 14. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we'll delete it.

If you live in the United States

Mentor is offered in Canada and the United States. If you use it in the U.S., your information is handled as this policy describes and processed in Canada and the United States. You can make the requests listed above, and we'll honour any additional rights your state's law gives you. We don't sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. If we offer Mentor in other countries, we'll update this policy first.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before the change applies, and update the date at the top of this page.
